We’re there for families when they need us most. RMHC® has been supporting families with seriously ill or injured children across Australia since 1981.
Achieving our Mission Possible targets for 2022 and beyond
Our three-year Mission Possible Strategic Plan helps shape our future and create efficiencies across RMHC Australia and our 11 chapters. Throughout 2022 we have achieved great initiatives that help ensure we can continue to provide the best possible services for our families.
For families, we have:
- Implemented the Programs App at Retreat locations, improving family stays
- Implemented exit surveys for all Ronald McDonald Houses, providing service-improving data
- Invested in advancing family-centred care. RMHC Chapters can now link with healthcare services beyond our current Programs to support families in innovative ways
- Commenced trialling sibling support and a senior years student mentoring pilot within the Ronald McDonald Learning Program
- Commenced evaluation on how to better understand and support pre-schoolers or preschool-aged siblings impacted by serious illness or injury.
For efficiency across our system, we have:
- Began updating our finance system allowing for integration with our Salesforce CRM to streamline reporting and enable best practice data sharing
- Signed off on roles and responsibilities for the whole organisation, clarifying how we work together to deliver our strategic plan
- Identified our top three priorities for the Government and set a strategy for influencing and engaging Government support
- Provided the Leadership Enhancement Development Program (LEAD) program to support and grow our aspiring leaders across the system
For our future, we have:
- Continued to move RMHC Australia and our Chapters towards the Mission Possible goals for 2023 and are on track to support a further 12,000 children in 2023.

MCHAPPY DAY 2022
On 12 November 2022, people across Australia came together to support RMHC. Thank you to our incredible 2022 ambassador, Eva Mendes, and local talent, who helped McHappy Day reach $4.8 million in donations.
We are forever grateful to McDonald’s Australia, Licensees, restaurants and crew for their continuous hard work and support of our biggest annual fundraiser.
ORGANISATIONAL EXCELLENCE
The 2022 Organisational Excellence conference provided the first opportunity in two years for our RMHC staff to meet face-to-face. Colleagues from across Australia came together to reconnect, reengage, and strengthen our connections.
H.E.L.P CONFERENCE
The 6th International Health Professionals, Educators, Learners and Parents (H.E.L.P.) Conference was held in August 2022 in Sydney. With the theme of ‘Re-connect & Re-imagine’, attendees had the opportunity to learn about the latest research around how to best support children and young people as they navigate their education.
MACKAY FAMILY ROOM
On 8 December 2022, we opened the doors to our 20th Ronald McDonald Family Room, located in Mackay Base Hospital and Health Service. Operated by RMHC North Australia, we are set to support thousands of North Queensland families each year. Providing the comforts and conveniences of home and a place of respite within the hospital.
IT STRATEGY
In 2022, a technology governance structure that delivers a secure, fit for purpose, agile technology solutions to enhance current and future mission delivery for the RMHC system.
FINANCIALS
In 2022, over $16m was raised by RMHC Australia for the charity in Australia. These vital funds will ensure we continue to provide the best care we can to every one of our families with seriously ill children.
